How to Search the Lakeway Court Docket
The Lakeway Municipal Court page is the place to start, along with your citation. The court offers no web docket search form. Your dependable channels are a phone call, an email, a letter, or the counter at the Justice Center.
- Confirm that Lakeway Municipal Court is the court named on the citation or notice.
- Gather the citation or case number, name, and stated appearance date.
- Call 512-314-7560 or email court@lakeway-tx.gov to ask for status and the latest setting.
- Visit 104 Cross Creek during posted hours when the record or response requires the counter.
- If the ticket names another issuer, use that city or Travis County JP rather than Lakeway.
Mail counts too. Lakeway's published procedure treats a delivered plea as an appearance. re:SearchTX can help with a participating higher court, but it is not the city docket. When a web search turns up nothing on a Lakeway case, the clerk remains the best source.

The Lakeway Municipal Court
Lakeway Municipal Court hears Class C misdemeanors under Texas law and Lakeway ordinance cases. Its jurisdiction stays municipal. It is distinct from the Travis County JP courts. It is also separate from the County Courts at Law and the District Courts. Presiding Judge Amy McHugh took the oath on October 6, 2025. That is the current marker in the court's leadership history.
The court works out of the Lakeway Justice Center. The building once served as City Hall. A new City Hall opened later. The old one was renovated and now houses the Police Department alongside the Municipal Court. Sharing walls does not merge police files with judicial records. Requests for the Lakeway case docket go to the Municipal Court clerk.
The official Lakeway Justice Center profile documents the building's history and its present court role. It gives useful physical context for a clerk-first docket search.
Lakeway Justice Center Record Access
Going in person makes the process concrete. Bring the citation. Ask the Lakeway clerk to identify the public case status, the appearance date, or the copy method. Police staff share the address. Say up front that you want a court record, not a police report. The Lakeway court page posts the address, hours, telephone, and court services available at the counter.

Call before you drive over. Some cases are restricted, and some copies need advance handling. Lakeway publishes no copy fee schedule and no web request form. Ask the clerk for the current price. Also ask when your copy will be ready.
Lakeway Court Dates and Settings
Treat the date printed on a Lakeway citation as your appearance date. A bond sets the release date. If a continuance is requested, the court notifies the person of a new date. That notice is the calendar entry to trust.
| Date | The citation appearance date, bond release date, or latest date sent after a continuance. |
|---|---|
| Time | The time on the Lakeway notice or supplied by the clerk. |
| Courtroom | The Justice Center location or other method stated by the court. |
| Judge | The presiding or assigned Lakeway judicial officer. |
| Setting Type | An appearance, plea, pretrial, trial, compliance, or program setting. |
Uncertain about the date? Call the clerk. Lakeway accepts appearances in person, by mail, or by delivering a plea, though the current procedure decides whether a method fits the particular setting.
Lakeway Continuance Date Changes
A continuance request is not a reset by itself. Lakeway states that the court will notify the person of the new appearance date once the request is in. Keep your copy of the request. If no notice arrives before the original date, call the clerk rather than guessing.
Current date controls: Do not skip the original Lakeway setting unless the court has confirmed a new one. A submitted request alone does not prove approval.
When the confirmation arrives, compare the defendant name and citation number against the new date. Ask whether the appearance method changed too. This matters most if a remote option came up. Lakeway does not promise virtual access for every hearing.
Lakeway Traffic Tickets
A traffic ticket written in Lakeway is a Class C case that usually lands in Lakeway Municipal Court. The appearance date on the citation starts the clock. The official court page links payment, time-payment plans, driving safety programs, appeals, records checks, and trials. Each path has its own rules. Availability depends on the current Lakeway instructions.
Give the clerk your citation or case number and name when asking for status. Was the ticket issued somewhere else? Then use the named city or JP court. Do not assume a Travis County County Clerk misdemeanor portal lists a Lakeway municipal citation. The Travis County traffic court records page maps the broader venue picture.
Lakeway's current page also notes the repeal of DPS driver surcharges. A surcharge is not a current city consequence. Confirm fines, costs, and eligibility with the Lakeway Municipal Court. A general Texas summary is not a substitute.
Lakeway No-Recording Rule
Watching a Lakeway proceeding is not the same as having a right to record it. The court forbids recording an in-person, virtual, or streamed proceeding without permission. Only the court reporter's official work is excepted, and the rule holds even when a person can simply observe the setting.
- Open setting
- A proceeding the public may observe subject to court rules and lawful restrictions.
- Official record
- The court-created record or court reporter material kept under applicable procedure.
- Personal recording
- Audio, video, or screen capture that Lakeway bars without court permission.
Follow whatever the judge and clerk direct, in the courtroom and online alike. If you later need a transcript or copy, ask the court for the proper record route. A personal device is no substitute for a requested court record.
Where Lakeway Cases End Up
Lakeway Municipal Court handles city ordinance and fine-only Class C matters within its venue. A citation naming a Travis County JP stays with that precinct. Class A and B misdemeanors sit with the Travis County Criminal County Courts at Law, while adult felonies and major civil matters belong in District Court.
Docket flow: Lakeway Municipal Court › Travis County Courts › District Court
The flow shows levels, not a promise that each Lakeway matter advances. Start any docket search with the city clerk for a Lakeway citation. Turn to County Clerk Odyssey or District Clerk case information only when the cause, charge level, appeal, or transfer supports that venue. The Travis County court docket identifies those county custodians.
Lakeway Teen Court Schedule
Lakeway lists Teen Court as a monthly program. It runs Wednesday evenings from September through May at 104 Cross Creek. Sessions begin at 6 p.m. A volunteer jury of peers and community service can be part of the program. Successful completion may lead to dismissal or removal for an eligible youth matter. Treat that as a Lakeway program path, not a County Clerk record category. Confirm the current session, eligibility, documents, and completion terms with Municipal Court before relying on the published pattern. A general Wednesday schedule does not establish that a particular case is set. If a youth case is protected from public display, the lack of an online record does not defeat the court's authority or the participant's obligations. The clerk can give authorized parties the proper access and completion instructions.
Public Access to Lakeway Court Records
Request a Lakeway municipal case record from the court clerk at 104 Cross Creek. Call or email first when practical, or come to the counter during posted hours. The court offers no separate online search form. It posts no exact copy fee schedule and no confirmed web request form. Ask about available public docket information, copy format, cost, certification, and delivery time. The clerk will spell out what you can get and how.
Key Rules:
Texas Public Information Act covers many administrative government records, while court case records follow judicial access law.
Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 sets a process for judicial-record requests and denial review.
Texas Judicial Branch access policy explains why judicial records and case files use distinct routes.
Juvenile, sealed, expunged, and protected information may be withheld. A clerk response or formal copy beats a remembered setting or an old notice every time.
Lakeway Clerk-First Search Checklist
Before calling, write down the citation number, defendant name, appearance date, issuing agency, and requested record. Ask one clear question at a time. Has the case been filed? What is the current date, is a public copy available, and how can it be received?
| Channel | What is known | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| Public web search | No separate form located | Do not invent search fields. |
| Phone or email | Case or citation details help | Confirm status, date, and copy steps. |
| In person | 104 Cross Creek | Follow current identification and access rules. |
| Mail or plea delivery | Recognized appearance paths | Use only under Lakeway’s current procedure. |
This fallback chain preserves the city-specific route. It also keeps a Lakeway case from landing with the wrong elected county clerk.
